-Played and recorded with the University of North Texas One O' Clock Lab Band (2 CDs: Lab'98 and a live performance for the ITG concert featuring Randy Brecker, Byron Stripling, and Vincent DiMartino.
-Masters in Jazz Performance from Florida International University
-Now living in Urbana, Illinois working on DMA in jazz at the University of Illinois and also teaching classes (directing the UI Concert Jazz Band II, jazz trombone lessons, jazz history, and also teaching as part of the UI/East St. Louis Project - ESLARP).

-Performed  with jazz artist such as Arturo Sandoval, Paquito D'Rivera, Tito Puente, Nestor Torres, David Sanborn, Louie Bellson, Dave Liebman, John Fedchock, Eddie Daniels, Randy Brecker, Byron Stripling, Vincent DiMartino, Kevin Mahogany, Art Seres, Vic Damone, Melton Mustafa Orchestra, Dennis Noday Orchestra, Four Freshman, Bob Hoose Orchestra, Lee Harris Orchestra, Dallas Jazz Orchestra, Pete Peterson Jazz Colection Orchestra, and many others.

-Worked with Latin (salsa) artists such as Celia Cruz, Willy Chirino, Israel López "Cachao", Rey Ruiz, Eddie Santiago, Tito Nueves, Luis Enrique, Huey Dunbar (DLG), Roberto Torres, Hansel y Raul, Tropicana All-Stars, Tito Puente Jr., Los Doctores del Ritmo, Marco Antonio Muniz, and others.

-Also worked with Temptations, Roberta Flack, Denise Williams, O'Jays, and the Manhattans.

-Leader of the Dave Dickey Big Band, a 17 piece jazz big band featuring members of the University of Illinois Jazz Faculty (Jim Pugh, Chip McNeil, Chip Stephens, Tito Carrillo, Dana Hall, and Jeff Grubbs) and the top jazz musicians in east and central Illinois.

-Leader of Weapons of Mass DisFunktion, a fusion jazz/funk ensemble from Champaign, IL.

-Leader of C-U Jazz Crusaders, a 6 piece Jazz Crusaders tribute band from Champaign/Urbana, IL.

-Jim Pugh / Dave Dickey Quintet, a tribute band to J.J. Johnson and Kai Winding playing the original arrangements J.J. and Kai did in the mid 1950's.  Jim Pugh and Dave Dickey on trombone, Chip Stephens on piano, Chris Nolte on bass, and Josh Hunt on drums.

-Dave is a former jazz radio DJ/Programmer  for 5 years on WDNA-Miami 88.9 FM. You can hear the station live on the net at www.wdna.org While he was a DJ at WDNA, he interviewed musicians on his show such as Bob Mintzer, Bill Watrous, Peter Erskine, John Hicks, Bobby Shew, Butch Miles, Steve Turre, John Fedchock, Andy Martin, Bob McChesney, Michael Davis, Fred Wesley, Jiggs Whigham, Tom Garling, Gordon Goodwin, Carl Saunders, Brian Lynch, Carl Saunders, Greg Gisbert, Mark Levine, Kevin Mahogany, Alan Harris, Melton Mustafa, Jason Carder, Dennis Noday, and others.  

-Dave is currently a jazz radio DJ/Programmer for WEFT 90.1 FM in Champaign, IL.

-Dave was a musician and an actor in the Arturo Sandoval movie on HBO called "For Love Or Country" featuring Andy Garcia as Arturo Sandoval, Mia Maestro, Gloria Estefan, David Paymer, and Charles S. Dutton as Dizzy Gillespie

-Dave was also performing and soloing in a documentary movie/DVD/CD on Cuban music called "La Cuba Mia" backing up Celia Cruz, Willy Chirino, Miliki, and other Cuban artists. Other artist on the DVD include Arturo Sandoval, Paquito D'Rivera, Albita, Donato, and others.
